Welcome to Woofers, my name is Sue and I have been grooming for many years here are a few tips  to keep your pet in tip top condition.

Grooming is an important part of caring for your dog and cat. and it varies from breed to breed. Some dogs need  brushing and combing regularly every day , others  less often, but you must always remember, this helps keep your dog or cat happy and contented.  Think how you would feel if you didn't brush your hair for a week.  Very unhappy !!

Certain breeds need  professional grooming every six weeks, some as little and three times a year.    Long coats need a lot of attention, grooming daily  and non-shedding coats means just that, dogs with these types of coats do not moult. They do however need to be clipped on a regular basis, as much as every two-three months.  Ears need to be plucked, any excess hair removed , nails clipped with great care and bathed.  Dead hair has to be removed or your dog will become very  matted and uncomfortable.  Some dogs come in to me feeling unhappy, but after a good groom and bath, they go away feeling as young and playful as a puppy again with tail wagging.

Some dogs have smooth coats, these are the easiest coats to groom.  Labradors, Boxers, Dobermans, Greyhounds and Whippets are all smooth coated dogs, however, they still benefit from being groomed, bathed, nails clipped and ears cleaned

If you have a puppy, start by getting him accustomed to being groomed from an early age.   Only start for a short time and very gradually build on this until your puppy is happy to stand still.  I would suggest that you use the same position every time so that he learns that this is his grooming area where he has to behave.

It is iimportant to groom long haired cats on a daily basis otherwise they get matted and a matted cat is not a happy cat !!!!!!!  If a cat is matted there is normally only one option left which is to shave the area.

My parlour overlooks fields so your pet can relax  taking in the views, although most feel so laid back they fall asleep!  It is of the utmost importance that your pet spends  a relaxed and happy  couple of  hours with me, therefore I never over book.  It is always advisable to rebook or at least allow a month before  your appointment is needed.
